Social-Emotional Resources

Speak Life!
Social-emotional curriculum taught to all NCH High School students, beginning 2019-2020. An Atlanta-based program, its lessons teach the skills and attitudes, beyond the four core subjects, needed to succeed in the real world. The multi-dimentional lessons promote grit, self-awareness and self-sufficiency in small-group, grade-level classes through 9 modules: Decision-Making, Etiquette, Envisioning, Life Skills, Psychology of Love, Character Education, Health & Wellness, Workforce Development, and College Preparation.  The students receive these lessons during the last half-hour of each day and earn 1/2 elective credit toward graduation.

St. Joseph Orphanage
This community mental health agencies provide licensed professional counseling services in our school settings at all grade levels. Students may receive weekly individual therapy during the school day and/or case management services that help to connect families to community support services.  Contact the grade level school counselor for a referral; once an official referral for services is made by the NCH counselor, the agency representative will call the parent for permission and insurance information.  All discussions with parents and students are confidential per professional counseling ethical standards.
